Every year the pages of the calendar seem to flip more quickly. At one moment it’s a hot summer’s day and then you blink and it’s Christmas.
As the saying goes, “The days are long, but the years are short,” and those words ring truer as each year passes, especially now that our lives are starting to resemble pre-2020 with events, activities and get-togethers returning.
I try to take this time of year to reflect and take that quote to heart – to enjoy the time with family, embrace the busyness of the season, and enjoy all winter has to offer in Huron/Perth.
This issue brings us tips on healthy eating during the holidays – sage advice in a time of typical over-indulgence; a history lesson on local Stratford legend Tom Patterson; a fantastic feature on local women chasing their passion for cooking later in life; an informative article on Snowbirding in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas; and an eye-opening new perspective on organizing your life before someone has to do it for you.
Although 2022 was not without its challenges for us at Huron-Perth Boomers due to an industry-wide paper shortage and limited printer capacity, we are committed to publishing this magazine every quarter, as we approach our 6th anniversary in the spring. I thank all our readers, writers and advertisers who supported us this year, and we look forward to continuing to inform and entertain local adults 50+ in 2023.
I wish everyone a safe and healthy holiday season and prosperous New Year – be sure to take the time to soak it all in!
